Our P.E. day is Friday. Please ensure your child wears suitable footwear that are easy for them to run in on Fridays. Long hair needs to be tied back and earrings are not allowed to be worn in school at any time.

Forest School

Our Forest School day is every other Thursday afternoon.  Please make sure your child has their forest school kit (puddle suit) and wellies in school.

Weekly Learning

 RE

Summer 2 Week 3

We talked about how everyone is invited to be a friend of Jesus. People all over the world know, love, and follow Him. We discussed what it means to be His friend and shared a story about this.

We imagined that Jesus was coming to visit and wrote questions we might ask Him. We also thought about how we could find answers—such as asking people in our local church or community. We then shared the story If Jesus Walked Beside Me.

The children were invited to use their threading skills to make friendship bracelets, showing that they are friends of Jesus.

Summer 2 Week 4

We talked about how everyone is invited to be a friend of Jesus, and that people all over the world know, love, and follow Him. The children explored icons from the Coptic Catholic Church in Ethiopia and learned that these special images tell the story of Jesus’ life. We discussed how icons are created by people who love Jesus and want others to know Him too. The children shared what they noticed about the different icons.

They then worked together to create a group piece of artwork, using pictures to tell stories they know about Jesus.

Drawing Club

Book Title: Rosie’s Walk

Last week, we explored the story Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins, focusing on the farm setting where the main character, Rosie the hen, strolls around the farm, meeting new animals along the way, unaware that a sneaky fox is following her. The children enjoyed linking their own farm experiences to the story and came up with very imaginative drawings and sentences to accompany it.

Vocabulary: stroll, haybale, peaceful, windmill and amphibians.

Animation: Lost and Found

This week, we will go on an adventure to the South Pole with the story “Lost and Found” by Oliver Jeffers, in which a boy finds a penguin at his door and travels to the South Pole to help it find its home, only to discover that the penguin truly longs for friendship. The children will discuss the story's structure and the author’s use of imagery and be introduced to new vocabulary to enhance their writing.

Vocabulary: tidal wave, South Pole, iceberg and friendship.
