September 2025

Miss Bolton reintroduced the idea of OPAL to the new Reception children. During the assembly, together, we came up with our "OPAL Charter" for playing outside together and we thought about how we can all be happy, safe and have fun on the playground. These OPAL charters have now been placed around our playground to remind children. The children were also able to share any other resources or activities they would like to see on the playground.

January 2025

Miss Bolton delivered an assembly introudcing our new ST ROSES OPAL BARN.

December 2024

OUR ST ROSES BARN IS DELIVERED!

The children were very inquisitive and excited after the barn had been delivered. Miss Bolton delivered an OPAL assembly explaining that the barn would be open in the New Year - January 2025

November 2024

Mrs Anderton and Miss Bolton began to map out some key areas around the school site. They began mind mapping key equipment that we needed to source and asked for parent donations via the Wednesday Week Ahead. Many parents kindly donated many spare parts, wellies, puddle suits and so much more ready to launch in the New Year!

Miss Bolton gave the first OPAL assembly explaining to the children how our lunchtimes would be changing. The children were most excited about putting on their wellies at lunch time and playing on the field all year round! The lunchtime play team introduced bubbles and a speaker to the playground along with existing sports equipment tp slowly introduce the idea of OPAL.

October 2024

The OPAL team met for their first development meeting. We discussed some quick 'playtime' wins and thought about ideas we could implement to our playground in the new season. Mrs Anderton and Miss Bolton were happy to share the news that the school have purchased some fantastic loose part storage which will be delivered in the Spring Term!

 September 2024

The teachers, TA's and MSAs were invited to a training session led by our OPAL mentor Libby. It was a very inspirational evening!

Mrs Anderton & Miss Bolton have begun to map out possible areas around the school site where we can develop exciting and new activities for the children during lunch times!

July 2024

The Opal team met with our OPAL Advisor Libby to go through the OPAL audit for the first time. Our Baseline score was 43% (Most schools score between 30% and 40% at baseline.) Libby said that our site had lots of potential and that there was a strong offering already in place. We just need a little more variety, all year round!
